Ah, It was truly a merry Christmas. We woke up in the morning and went for a movie. 3 Idiots, it was an amazing movie. Then suddenly we realised, it was red and white all over. Every place was so beautifully decorated with X-mas trees, Santa and Jingle bells. We could hear the sound of joy at every corner, Celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. The happiness was doubled with the new year celebrations coming near.Though, it's too late, but i cannot resist singing the carol for all of you...
We wish you a Merry Christmas; We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Good tidings we bring to you and your kin;
Good tidings for Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Oh, bring us a figgy pudding;
Oh, bring us a figgy pudding; Oh, bring us a figgy pudding and a cup of good cheer: Refrain
We won't go until we get some;
We won't go until we get some;
We won't go until we get some, so bring some out here: Refrain
We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
It was a great festive season. Full of colors, lights, sweets and pooja.
All started with Dushera. The festival symbolizing triumph of truth over evil. Children enjoyed the colorful Ramayana and the sight of Ravana being burnt.
All jolliness and colors continued with Navratras. The nine day ritual for durga pooja. As it started, everyone was suddenly smiling with the feeling that season of festivals has started. Goddess durga showered her blessings. This year I was quite impressed that some people did the ritual of immersing Durga in rivers in ecofriendly way. Though the waste was still there, but the hope has begun that mass is awakening.
Then came the spring of Love - Karvachauth. Some say that it does not make any sense but what I feel is that may be in the name of ritual, couples get cozy and get a chance to show their love towards each other in harmless manner. All women looked stunning dressed in their best attires and some husbands went an extra edge to fast along with their better halves. The feeling of looking at moon together and then each other eyes through chalni is just so pure.
Following came Dhan Teras. The day is considered auspicious for buying gold. But my grand ma said that they used to buy any metal on this day. Generally it used to be in the form of utensil for kitchen.
Then followed the biggest festival if India - Diwali. Everyone had started preparing for it well in advance. Some renovated their houses, other's cleaned them and decorated in tradition. Everyone exchanged gifts and happiness. Many doors were decorated with beautiful rangolis and little footsteps of Goddess Laxmi. Post Laxmi Pooja began celebration of children. All sorts of crackers and sky was full of colorful lights.
Then the mood had not even started fading, Lord Krishna came with Govardhan Pooja. I had a funny story related to this. In our childhood, my grandma used to make govardhan with cow dung and place a bed above it. She used to say that if we sleep on that bed before pooja in the evening, Govardhan will come in our dreams and hit us hard by a stick. We used to fear a lot with this and did not even dared to sit o that bed. :)
The season ended with Bhai Dooj. Brothers showered gifts on their beloved sisters....
When we look at people around us who have had relatively smooth and trouble-free lives, we find only few of them stay in joviality. We look at those who have really rough and challenging lives; yet again, only a bunch of them are in good spirits. This seems to suggest the relevance of an age-old...
Hello, I am happiness. I always come to you. But, the onus is always on you accept me. Let’s penetrate deeper.
You may ask me what exactly Happiness is. Well, I am nothing but a good health plus a bad memory. You will be happy if you are healthy. Now, does that mean those who are not well are Unhappy? Well, not exactly. If you are able to put aside this I-Am-Not-In- Healthy-Condition thing or something like that, you will always be smiling.
You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. I belong to the self-reliant. There are numerous moments in your life to be happy. My friends often comment one of my followers, "She becomes jolly at so small things we would not even think of...” She is so happy on New Year eve. Even when she was away from my family, she brought a New Year cake and 2 red heart shaped balloons for my room. She cut the cake and enjoyed with all her roommates. Everyone was suddenly smiling at the very sight of celebration. No doubt, I was there, present all the time; but I was bought forward.Like ways, every time, there are moments waiting to be cheered, even without any reason. Action may not always bring happiness to you, but there is no happiness without action.
Well said, “That man is richest whose pleasures are cheapest.” By cheapest, he is not counting its monetary value. It is the intensity which matters. All I have to say is that there may not be a grand celebration to be cherished. But there is always a little smile lying on your face. There may not be a reason to flaunt it, it may not be Christmas, and it may not be perfect... But happiness is there: big or small. Cherish it.
I am always there walking side by side with you. I am there when a child laugh out loud on stupid sound of tearing paper. I am there when a mother sees her kid copying her. I am there when you find your favorite scoop of ice-cream in the fridge. I lie in your eyes, waiting to be tickled. I am there, with you, always.
